Carl Edwards and his No. 99 Fastenal Ford Fusion team executed the fastest pit stop and ended up winning the pole in a unique qualifying format for Saturday night's Sprint All-Star Race. Greg Biffle was third and Joey Logano fifth.

Carl Edwards finished seventh and was the highest-finishing Ford driver in Saturday night's Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Greg Biffle was next in 13th.

Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 Meguiar's Ford Fusion, hit the wall in practice to get a patented Darlington stripe, but his crew repaired the damage and helped him be the fastest Ford in qualifying for Saturday night's scheduled Southern 500 with a ninth-place run.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying was rained out on Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway, so the starting grid for tomorrow’s scheduled race has been set according to the rule book. By virtue of being the fastest in Friday’s first practice session, Carl Edwards will start on the pole while Marcos Ambrose (3rd) and Joey Logano (4th) will also be among the top-five.
